Report No. 1 on the re-vamp of our online presence: Introducing Automation (or making it easy *and* useful)

Well, folks, law school is over (and so is my employment - I was laid off on May 21), so I have so much free time on my hands between applying for jobs that, fanac is the only thing keeping me sane. After two years of neglect, *both* Fandominion.com and Tightbeam.net have been getting some much-needed attention.

There have been a lot of changes - but I'm breaking them up into (hopefully) digestible smaller bites:

Although the job of a managing a website is never done, FanDominion.com is ready for business; Tightbeam is 90% there, but up and running better than it was last week - even unfinished. And BOTH of them are easier to use than ever. Here's one way how:

Becoming a contributor to Fandominion just got a heck-of-a-lot easier. In two major ways:

• If you can send an email - you can post a story on Fandominion. Seriously. Contact me - I have a special email account up that you can send stories to that will automatically put your story in cue for an editor to review, format and post on the site. No logging in or any web skill required. If you can reply to an email message - you can write for FanDominion.
• Syndication of your current blog. If you already have a blog that has an RSS feed by category (if you have no idea what that means - than I'll check for you. It takes about 30 seconds for me to do.) - I can flip a few switches and Fandominion will automatically scour your current blog for stories you wish to share on FanDominion. And the permalinks *go back to your blog* - so you keep full credit and control. Furthermore - if you update or change your story within 10 days - FanDominion will automatically update those changes, too.
• EXTRA: I'm in the final stages of putting the finishing touches of a daily digest of new posts and links to Fandominion that will be emailed out to this list. (you *can* sign up for yourself, individually, now)

Tightbeam.net: Our online community (http://tightbeam.net)
Still officially under construction, Tightbeam also is in the process of being automated and made easier to use. All of the changes above ALSO work on Tightbeam. But wait, (as they say on infomercials) there's more ...

TIGHTBEAM.NET-SPECIFIC AUTOMATION:

• Any story posted on Fandominion also, within about an hour, automatically posts on the Tightbeam "recent posts" list which is constantly updated 24/7 on an hourly basis - if not sooner.
• Furthermore, any story that posts on that Tightbeam "recent posts list" *also* automatically posts on the *Both* the N3F Facebook club page *and* the Facebook "official" N3F info page. (I had them clone the feeds over there last week).
• For Wanna-be Tightbeam bloggers: If you have a Tightbeam blog gathering dust - we can automate it, too.
• Twitterer? Yep that can be added to your Tightbeam user page, too.

Enough of that gobbledygook - what that this mean for you?

Here's the scoop: It's your fandom - *You* decide how much - or how little - you want to do, we got the tools to help up and running right now. NO COMPUTER PROGRAMMING SKILLS REQUIRED.

More egoboo opportunities than you can shake a stick at. For instance if:

1. Your computer skills start and stop with using email: No problem. Within minutes, I can have you set up with either of the following: 1> The ability to post fannish news to Fandominion, and/or 2> your own blog that you control 100% (I'll set it up for you in a matter of minutes. Imagine - you can have a blog or post news on Fandominion.com simply by sending an email to a special email we'll give you - for free
2. LiveJournal user: One email to me and your Live Journal posts can be instantly syndicated as a news story or review or column to Fandominion and/or the Tightbeam feed Facebook and/or your Tightbeam blog.
3. A Facebook addict: Your statuses can be auto syndicated to your Tightbeam.net blog and user page. (Facebook blocks the ability to clone your wall onto other web sites.)
4. Not a blogger but use social networks all the time (Bebo, Facebook, Amazon wish lists, Wikipedia, Yahoo, LiveJournal, Digg, and a ton more) - your activity at your choosing may be logged and linked to your Tightbeam account automatically to let other Neffers know what you've been up to - but only if you want. It's completely voluntary and you control everything.
